🍕 Papà Lello: our pizza canteen

Ambiance & decor: counter, Chartrons quays and good music

At 35 quai des Chartrons, 33000 Bordeaux, Papà Lello stands out as our favorite spot for pizza with friends or solo at the counter. The venue has been set up in a former garage, with a vintage industrial vibe — brick walls, a visible wood-fired oven, large bay windows and a terrace overlooking the Garonne quays. The central counter invites you to sit down, watch the pizzas being cooked and enjoy the always well-chosen music, which creates a relaxed yet lively atmosphere.

At the table: authentic Neapolitan pizza, fast service and "canteen" spirit

At Papà Lello, they don't do things by halves: airy dough, Italian "00" flour, San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella — everything is there for a successful Neapolitan pizza. The menu is well thought out, with creations like the "Mortadella" (pistachio, pistachio mortadella) or the "Truffe de ouf" to savor for a special occasion. My usual choice, a Margherita with the Burrata option to dip the crusts in, Susi's choice: the Diavola, always. The service is smooth, perfect for a quick lunch or a stress-free dinner. We also appreciate the fine selection of Italian craft beers and wines to share.

For whom?

Dad Lello is an excellent choice for:

  • Authentic pizza lovers who seek quality and atmosphere,
  • Groups of friends or colleagues looking for a cool address on the quays,
  • The faithful counters where you can sit down to watch the cooking, chat, eat and enjoy.

Verdict: a must for good eating at the counter

PapĂ  Lello is an unmissable Bordeaux address when you want a pizza that delivers on its promises, in a lively, welcoming and unpretentious place. Remember to book if you want to eat on the terrace in summer!
