đŸ± Maison Musubi: our favorite Japanese canteen in Bordeaux

Ambiance & decor: intimacy, family and open kitchen

Located at 2 quai des Queyries, 33100 Bordeaux, Maison Musubi is a discreet little gem on the right bank, nestled in a space with only 16 seats. From the moment you enter, you feel like you're in a Japanese home, with a wooden counter, open kitchen, soft lighting, and all-smiles service provided by Ayako and Marie. The atmosphere is warm, unpretentious, perfect for an authentic lunch, as if you were invited to a friend's house.

At the table: family-style Japanese cuisine, sakés & generosity

At Maison Musubi, they don't serve bland sushi, but homemade Japanese cuisine made with passion, in carefully crafted lunch sets. Among the signature dishes: a kare-raisu (Japanese curry) cooked with seasonal vegetables, a marinated egg, a simmered chicken bento with salted plums and mirin, my favorite goes to the beef tataki, ultra tender. On the drinks side: a beautiful selection of artisanal sakes highlighted by Marie, sake sommelier, to discover this refined and subtle world. The menu prices are reasonable (around €19-23) for so much care.

Maison Musubi is a rare address in Bordeaux, where each dish tells a story, where sake is savored as an art form, and where one feels welcomed rather than treated as a "customer".
